This was one for the ages.

In what could well prove a decisive match for their division, the Corsairs and Bengals went head to head in a closed stadium (due to recent incursions of Nurgle's Rot).  25,000 fans tuned on Cablevision.

Electing to receive, the Bengals were quickly overturned by the highly rated Dark Elf outfit.  However, fortune smiled as the Corsairs uncharacteristically failed a regulation (snake eyes) play to fail to score and then concede the score, while the Bengals also moved ahead with an early casuality count lead.  Zara and Helmut were instrumental, and both returned to enjoy the second half of proceedings.  1-0 Bengals.

Struggling to retain the ball (partly due to unfamiliarity with the empty stadium / FumBBL environment) the Bengals forced the turnover.  With plenty of time on the clock, the Bengals passed the ball freely to set up the win.  Somewhat miraculously , Hapefri surgeed into the cage to force a dump-off.  Downing the passer (2 dice uphill) on the second part of a frenzied blitz, the Corsairs grabbed their chance.

With 8 players on the field it took more than a little magic from game MVP Omerien to level the score.  Earlier in the drive he made a covering pass after the Corsairs misread the kick-off.  He was on hand here for a second time to received the mircale pass from Rylryl, only to be denied by his footwork for the final yard.  He recovered however, after a second dump-off bounced his way to finish the game with 1 MVP, 2 completions and 1 TD.

Time and players in their favour, the Bengals worked the ball upfield but were twice overturned by the stubborn Dark Elves.  Securing the ball they looked to have the draw wrapped up before hapless Hapefri failed a needless go-for-it to position the dump-off save.  When the blitz came, the dump-off was to space, before catcher Pete Pooler picked up the dregs, launched a cross field pass with Tim Brody the hero (3+, 4+, 4+, 3+ no reroll).

Final score 2-1 Bengals, cutting the Corsairs division lead to 2 points.

The Corsairs look vulnerable in the next match with 6 casualities on the night, 4 missing the next game and most seriously standout Witchelf Nedeelsa suggering a fractured skull (for which the Apothecary had no cure).
