Viking BBC vs. Sanguin Corsairs (II)
« am: Juni 06, 2020, 17:35:36 »
After a long break due to the plague currently sweeping the lands, Sanguin Corsairs resumed their campaign to top the West division against Vikings BBC.  With the first game between the two teams resulting in a thrilling 2-2 draw, 30,000 faithful fans ignored local health warnings to join the fray on a very sunny day.  In terms of build up, neither team was ideally placed with the Vikings sacking their coach and Corsairs nursing 3 very serious injuries and having to call in a couple of journeymen to even make the numbers.

Vikings won the toss and elected to kick, struggling to gather the ball and move forward early on.  Their big line wailed away however, downing the Corsairs line.  The Corsairs pressed in return with 2 or 3 players pressuring the ball carrier in the backfield.  Despite clearing the pressure Vikings could not quite keep the carrier safe, and the Corsairs were rewarded with the first sack of the match.  Unluckily for the Corsairs, the bouncing ball fell kindly to a Norse blitzer! Frustrated but not beaten, the dark elves pressed again, and this time were rewarded with a kinder bounce directly into the arms of Hunshocu.  Stumbling away for the final dodge Hunshocu put away the go ahead touch down late in the first half.

Despite their physical presence, Vikings could not deliver on their casuality potential - despite keeping the budweiser babe's busy.  Starting the second half with an almost full roster, the Corsairs took advantage of their reception to rapidly double their lead, dummying right before moving up the left flank.

With time on the clock, Vikings were not out of it and fought hard for a well earned score to reduce the gap to 1.  It would not be enough however, the Vikings ultimately beaten by the clock to go down 1-2.
