Cincinburg Bengals v. Sanguin Corsairs
« am: Oktober 16, 2019, 09:06:23 »
The evenly matched Cincinburg Bengals took on the Sanguin Corsairs this week in a tight contest, to determine who would lead the division into the inter-divisional Christmas series.

Electing to receive the Corsairs launched a regulation drive weaving up the field right, then through the centre passed dullard defender Vito Scalera and finally left for the touch down.  There was one dicey moment near the end of the drive, with a key one on one block, but the Corsairs always looked safe.  Sulgy crossed for the score.  1-0 Corsairs.

With time on the clock the Cincinsburg Bengals controlled the ball well, but struggled to breakdown the Corsairs scrambling defence.  Even so, with some fortunate dodges (following less fortunate ones) they moved with in passing distance needing 4+, 3+ at the end of the drive for the equaliser.  The final pass was inaccurate and drifted into the crowd.

Starting the second half, the Bengals were still in the game and looked good to score early, while starting the half with a 11 to 9 player advantage.  Luckilly for the Corsairs their star dodge blitzer recovered from a fatal blow in the first half, with help from the team apothecary - otherwise it would have been 11-8.

Defending well the Corsairs KO'ed 4 Bengals players by mid-drive, which forced the Bengals into a stalling strategy.  The Bengals controlled the ball well under pressure, as the Corsairs threw themselves into the cage.  The Bengals finally crossed for the equaliser very late in the match, securing the draw.

Final score 1-1.  Nothing resolved this year between these two giants of the division.
